Whether you believe a video game can help or not it turns out that physical exercise really can help keep your brain healthy.  ”Beginning in our late 20s, most of us will lose about 1 percent annually of the volume of the exercizehippocampus, a key portion of the brain related to memory and certain types of learning.” But it turns out that physical exercise can actually slow or reverse the loss of brain tissue according to this magazine article by the New York Times
